Berlin, 29 May 2019
Walter Böhnke (67), WDL Aviation’s Managing Director for many years, will leave the WDL Management Board on 30 June 2019. In future, he will advise Zeitfracht Luftfahrt Holding GmbH as Chairman of the Advisory Board. In this way, Böhnke’s company is responding to his wish to reduce his professional time and hand over the baton to the next generation.
The trained lawyer and pilot began his flying career in 1974. Böhnke started in 1982 with the predecessor of today’s WDL Aviation, the “Westdeutsche Luftwerbung” (WDL) founded by Theodor Wüllenkemper in 1955. He quickly progressed from pilot to flight operations manager and managing director and has been successfully managing the destiny of WDL since 1985.
Wolfram Simon-Schröter, Managing Director of the Zeitfracht Group: “We thank Walter Böhnke for everything he has done for WDL. His commitment and expertise have made WDL a permanent fixture and a reliable partner in German aviation. We are therefore very pleased that he will continue to support us with his experience in the Advisory Board.”
Simon-Schröter will temporarily lead WDL as sole Managing Director from July.
