Cologne/Bonn, Berlin, November 7, 2020. German Airways and Hertha BSC said goodbye to Tegel Airport together on Saturday evening in keeping with their status: In the team plane, the Berlin Bundesliga club returned victorious from the match at FC Augsburg. The traditional Berlin club was one of the last passengers to land at the former capital city airport. Tegel closes for good this weekend.
Because both are of special importance to Berlin, the aircraft of Germany’s second oldest airline was also welcomed at Tegel Airport with a rain shower from the airport fire department. The plane had taken off from Memmingen, not far from Augsburg, and the crew was flown home safely by captain Andreas Bäumer and co-pilot Andreas Geloneck.
