Berlin, Cologne, February 1, 2021. – The Zeitfracht Group is acquiring a stake in VEMAG Verlags- und Medien Aktiengesellschaft: after the antitrust authorities have given their approval, the investment will take effect as planned on February 1, 2021. With immediate effect, the existing Executive Board around Holger Schneider and Sascha Heinen will be supplemented by Wolfram Simon-Schröter, who will be responsible for finance at VEMAG.
The Supervisory Board of the stock corporation, which previously consisted of six members, has been restructured. In future, it will have three members: Hartmut Fromm, a lawyer from Berlin, remains Chairman of the Board. Media manager Christoph Keese will continue to contribute his expertise. The Supervisory Board will be supplemented by digital expert Thorsten Dirks.
The VEMAG Group includes the publishing houses Naumann & Göbel and Schwager & Steinlein. The VEMAG publishers mainly have children’s books in their program, as well as cookbooks, guidebooks on topics such as fitness, creativity and nature, and puzzle and gift books. VEMAG works intensively with almost all the major chain stores in the discount and food retail sectors, as well as with many other retailers in various industries.
The Cologne-based publishing group employs around 180 people at four locations. It operates its own high-bay warehouse with 10,000 pallet spaces in Bergheim. The logistics of several million books per year are managed from Cologne.
Zeitfracht is a third-generation family business and employs around 2,700 people, mainly in logistics and retail. With Zeitfracht GmbH, the group already operates as one of the leading providers in media logistics. Zeitfracht CEO Dominik Wiehage: “With the VEMAG publishing group, there are numerous synergies with core areas such as logistics, for example, in which Zeitfracht is also active.”
